The Palmetto Goodwill and North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Job Fair, held at the Myrtle Beach Mall, brought more than 450 job seekers in contact with 35 area businesses.
Held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 28, the 3rd Annual Goodwill and North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Job Fair connected job seekers with 35 area employers who were recruiting for more than 600 positions in the Grand Strand.
A few of the employers that participated included IHT Temp and Permanent Jobs, BlueCross/BlueShield of South Carolina, Apache Family Campground, Experience Works and Horry-Georgetown Technical College. Employers accepted 930 applications during the Job Fair and hired 16 individuals on site. Ten more applicants were referred to an orientation later that evening, and many others scheduled second interviews.
“Goodwill's mission is to help people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work,” said Robert Smith, president and CEO of Palmetto Goodwill. “Bringing job seekers in contact with area employers helps us to further achieve that mission.”
The job fair included a Palmetto Goodwill display showing job seekers how to dress for interviews on a budget and SC Works provided on-site workshops to assist job seekers with resume building, interview skills and dressing for success.
