FAIRMONT, NC (WBTW) – Robeson County deputies were called to a Fairmont home Sunday afternoon for a reported deadly shooting.
When they arrived, they found a 10-year-old boy shot to death.
Capt. Anthony Thompson said Christopher Stanlane Jr. was shot in the head with a shotgun while his father, Christopher Stanlane Sr., 34, was cleaning the weapon.
The father was wiping the gun down and it went off and struck the boy while he was watching TV, an incident report said.
Deputies said the incident happened at a home on Gaddy Road around 4 p.m.
The investigation is still ongoing and a decision has not been made whether or not charges will be filed.
