A Dillon County Sheriff's deputy was charged with assault and battery and misconduct in office on Friday, SLED officials said.
Ken Carlisle Rogers, age 48, of Harrison Street in Dillon was booked at the Dillon County Detention Center.
The arrest stems from an incident on July 20 in which Rogers, a sergeant, was sent to a call on Walnut Street in Dillon, SLED said.
During the incident, a suspect in handcuffs and leg shackles was assaulted, SLED said.
The detained person was slapped in the head, shocked with a Taser and had pepper spray deployed on him, according to a warrant released by SLED.
