Charges dropped against man arrested for firing shots at Murrells Inlet bar

Editor’s Note – According court documents provided to News13, charges against the subject below were dropped and expunged from his record by the State of South Carolina on April 22, 2015.

The result of an ongoing investigation by Georgetown County Sheriff’s Investigators led to the arrest of a man authorities say fired a gun at a bar earlier this summer.

Richard Allen Skimmyhorn, 26 years of age, of Moss Creek Loop, Murrells Inlet, was charged in the incident on Wednesday, deputies said.

The shooting was discovered by authorities at approximately 4:45 a.m. on July 27, when Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Beaver Bar located at 3574 Highway 17 Business in Murrells Inlet.

After sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene, they were informed several gun shots had been fired in the parking lot of the business. The victim stated to sheriff’s deputies he was engaged in a discussion with two  individuals inside the bar.

Later, as the victim exited the establishment, he stated one of the individuals he was having a discussion with, was outside and displayed a handgun and fired several rounds.

Deputies said that Skimmyhorn was identified as the individual who displayed and fired the handgun and is charged with two (2) counts of Pointing and Presenting a Firearm.
