Longtime Myrtle Beach City council member, Wayne Gray announces his re-election for Myrtle Beach City Council according to a press release.
Mr. Gray currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem.
A senior executive with Tidelands Bank and owner with his wife, Sherri, of the Spring House Family Restaurant, Wayne Gray is a product of the Myrtle Beach public school system graduating from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 1990. Wayne and Sherri have three children, two girls Spencer (17) and Sidney (12) and one son William (16).
Gray has been active in numerous community organizations and groups.
A former Chairman of The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, he has volunteered as a coach in the Myrtle Beach Recreation system, served as president of The Myrtle Beach All-Sports Booster Club, volunteered with The United Way and is a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand and Leadership South Carolina and currently serves on the Horry County Schools Superintendent Business Cabinet and is a member of The Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach.
The Gray's are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach.
Because of his extensive business background, Wayne Gray has a detailed understanding of the city's finances which consist of a total annual budget exceeding $150 million and AA credit rating.
He has led many projects to include the property tax credit for primary home owners of 58.5 mills, renovation of Doug Shaw Stadium and other capital investments such as Market Common Grand Park, the ocean-front boardwalk, renovation of Ashley Booth youth athletic field and improved roads such as Harrelson Boulevard and storm-water drainage projects that include the removal of approximately 30 storm drain pipes from the beach-front.
