WBTW first told you about a plan to look at moving back school start times in Georgetown County back in September (read here). Now the committee assembled to research that plan has tabled it.
According to School Board Chairman Jim Dumm, there was not much interest from the community in moving back the school start times. Dumm said less than half of the people selected for the committee showed up to meetings so the present group decided to leave the decision up to individual attendance areas.
Dumm said in the course of his research he did find that many Georgetown County schools actually started later than surrounding counties, around 8 a.m.
