A major cold front moves through North Carolina on Tuesday, bringing rain back to the forecast for the Piedmont and several inches of snow in the mountains.
As the colder air pours in, snow fell across the area.
A big time drop in temperatures has the highs only rebounding to the 30s after being in the teens to start the day Wednesday.
Colder than normal weather will persist for the rest of the work week as well, with below-normal highs and frigid teens.
The hardest hit areas were up in the northeast though. Parts of Massachusetts got 18 inches of snow. New Jersey and Pennsylvania also got more than a foot.
