Firefighters battled a church fire in Greenville County at the old Restoration Fellowship Ministry. The building is at the intersection on Gridley Street and Morris Street.
Chief Steve Alverson of the Parker District Fire Department says the call came in shortly after 8:00 Sunday night at the abandoned building that once served as a church.
Chief Alverson says several homes near the building were evacuated as a safety precaution, but no homes were burned and no injuries are reported. He tells 7 On Your Side the building is a total loss and firefighters will be battling the flames all night.
Fire officials are working to try and determine the cause of the fire. Chief Alverson says the building burned about 10 years ago.
The Red Cross of the Western Carolinas dispatched several disaster responders to the area, to provide food and water to emergency responders.
