The family of a 17-year-old North Carolina student is asking for your help to raise money for funeral expenses.

The account aims to raise $10,000 for 17 year old Ashley McKoy’s funeral. It explains the family does not have insurance and is having a hard time covering the expenses.

Troopers say Ashley’s car ran off NC 58, just south of Southwood Elementary School, around 10 am Monday morning. They say she overcorrected, before crashing into a tree.
She died at the scene.

“Ashley was a blessing in our lives… smart, fearless, and the most independent 17 year old I have ever met,” her cousin Ashley Carpenter wrote on a fundraising website.  “She will be greatly missed.
Ashley worked part time as a waitress at Sagebrush Steakhouse and was a senior at Lenoir County Early College High School.
Her cousin says Ashley planned to pursue a nursing degree.

Ashley was going to graduate high school this year, and through dual enrollment she would graduate with an associate’s degree.
Troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
