A Francis Marion University student was honored as a newly commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during a ceremony on Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. as part of FMU’s Army ROTC program.
Second Lt. Adam Truesdale of Lugoff took the oath at a gathering of former teachers, professors, family, friends and university officials, including FMU President Dr. Fred Carter, who is a retired U.S. Marine Corps. Colonel. The newly donned second lieutenant will graduate with a bachelor’s in political science with a concentration in criminal justice on Saturday.
Truesdale will serve as a chemical platoon leader in the 108th Chemical Company of the S.C. Army National Guard in North Charleston. He is the son of Jack and Cathy Truesdale.
