Coastal Structures Corp. of Georgetown and its subcontractors have pledged $110,000 gift to the Georgetown Hospital System Foundation.

The funds will go toward the foundation’s $5 million capital campaign, “Exceptional past, Extraordinary Future.”

“Georgetown Hospital System staff has cared for our friends and neighbors for decades, and Georgetown Memorial Hospital has been integral to the success of our community,” said Harby Moses Jr., president and owner of Coastal Structures, which is headquartered in Georgetown. “During a very difficult economic period, the hospital relied on local contractors for projects, a move that helped all of us, as well as our local economy, through some tough times. It is a privilege to give back to an organization that is committed to the health and the economic wellbeing of our community.”

Coastal Structures made the lead gift of $50,000, and six subcontractors each pledged $10,000.

The companies, all located in Georgetown and Horry counties, include C.L. Benton & Sons Inc., Craig’s Plumbing, Young Ceiling Systems Inc., South Strand Contractors Inc., Spann Roofing and Sheet Metal Inc. and Thompson Mechanical.

Bruce Bailey, president and CEO of Georgetown Hospital System, said the gift advances the campaign and moves it closer to its goal of expanding services and renovating facilities at Georgetown Memorial and Waccamaw Community hospitals.

“A successful community is only as strong as the people and leaders who live and do business there every day,” Bailey said.  “That’s why this gift from our local businesses is so meaningful. It underscores the importance and value, well beyond any monetary amount, of local support that will allow us to expand our services and, in turn, respond to the emerging needs of our community.”

The “Exceptional past, Extraordinary Future” capital campaign was launched in 2013 to raise funds for renovations at Georgetown Memorial and Waccamaw Community hospitals and to meet the growing demands for services in the community.

The Georgetown Hospital System Foundation provides a stable source of financial support for hospital programs, equipment and outreach efforts for the medically underserved and uninsured in Georgetown and surrounding counties.  The foundation develops collaboration between hospital staff, physicians, GHS trustees, corporate partners and other community non-profits to support the mission of the Georgetown Hospital System.  Resources for the Georgetown Hospital Foundation derive from individual and corporate donors, grants, and other sources to assure long term growth and development.
