A Florence man was charged after an active meth lab was discovered when deputies stopped a pickup truck for a traffic violation on Monday just outside the city of Darlington.

Darlington County Sheriff J. Wayne Byrd said that the traffic stop happened around 4 pm.

The sheriff posted a photo of a pickup truck pulled over by deputies at  US 52 Bypass just north of SC 151.

Daniel Judson Young, age 26, of the 900 block of Cardinal Circle in Florence, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana 3rd or more offense, Byrd said.

Traffic was backed up in the area while police were inspecting the vehicle.

Clean up crews are on the way to the scene from Columbia.
