CONWAY (WBTW) – Horry County Police continue to investigate and look for suspects in the deadly shooting of Bala Gopal Paruchuri, the owner of a Longs gas station and convenience store.

Thursday, Horry County Police announced the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for information about the murder and Sunhouse Convenience Store has added another $5,000 for a total of $10,000.

“We want the justice to be done to Bala’s family, because he was a good man,” said his co-worker and friend, K.P. Magnti during a press conference in Conway. “He never hurt anybody. He never said the wrong word, he never even said anybody ever was shoplifting in his store. There is no need for such a heinous crime against him.”

Just hours after the deadly robbery, police released photos of armed men who were holding up handguns during the robbery around 10 pm Friday night.

On Monday morning — just as folks were gathering at a funeral home to remember the store owner — police released new surveillance photos from the deadly robbery.

Horry County Police Department detectives released images of a man in a red shirt who “may have seen something that may help our investigation into the robbery/homicide”  at the Sunhouse Convenience Store, officials said.

Upon arrival, officers found 40-year-old Paruchuri ‘s body.  Horry County deputy coroner Michelle McSpadden says Paruchuri died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police who arrived on the scene saw “several spent shell casings on the floor” of the business.

In an official police report obtained by News13, a witness told police he was exiting a bathroom in the store when he saw three black males robbing the clerk. The witness told police he heard one of the men say, “give it up.”

Horry County Police released surveillance photos of the incident on Saturday evening.

Anyone with information regarding the Friday night incident is asked to call Horry County Police at (843) 915-TIPS.
