Brandon Herring is an anchor and producer of WBTW’s 9 a.m. broadcast called “News13 Now.”

He is a North Carolina native who grew up watching WBTW just across the state line in Lumberton. In addition to those Robeson County roots, his mother’s family traces family connections back to Florence, Dillon and the Gapway area of Marion County.

Working at News13 is also a professional return to the area after several years of working in other parts of the southeast. Brandon started his career as an associate producer, writing short news stories for WSOC (ABC) in Charlotte, N.C.

After that he reported, and anchored, and even briefly served as news director at WDNN, an independent TV station in Dalton, Ga. He then moved to Roanoke, Va., where he worked as a photographer for WSET (ABC).

After that, Brandon moved to Myrtle Beach for four years. He reported and anchored at WMBF (NBC). He moved back to the Grand Strand after two years in Fayetteville, N.C., where he reported for WNCN, the NBC station based in Raleigh.

Brandon graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

When not at work, he enjoys staying active, and yes, keeping an eye on local news. When time allows, he also enjoys spending time with family back in North Carolina. If the stars truly align he can sometimes be found lending a hand on the family farm, which includes a peach orchard and produce stand east of Lumberton.
