MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – This summer’s Carolina Country Music Festival provided more than good music and an economic boost for the Myrtle Beach area. The festival is the premise of a new country music video showcasing Myrtle Beach.
The Myrtle Beach City Government Facebook page reports country artists Big and Rich’s new video follows a young couple on their trek from Nashville to Myrtle Beach for the music festival. During Wednesday’s Myrtle Beach City Council meeting, Carolina Country Music Festival organizer Bob Durkin reported attendance statistics:
Thursday’s “Locals Night” – 5,000 attendees
Friday – 18,000 attendees
Saturday – 20,000 attendees
Sunday – 18,000 attendees
The city government page reports the event had “few problems for a first-time event of its size.” Durkin announced at Wednesday’s meeting that they are now planning for 2017 and beyond. The event organizer adds that the estimated value of media coverage of the music festival to be more than $5 million.
