3 teens among group charged in murder of NC bailiff and retired teacher

KINSTON, NC — The Kinston Department of Public Safety rounded up six suspects in connection with the death of a 71-year-old man.

The incident happened just after 11 pm on Girl Scout Road and Davis died after being shot in the head, WITN reported.

Police arrested Johnny Ray Sanders, 21, N’Finity Jones, 17, Jonathan Ordonez, 16, Adrian Torres Lopez, 19, Jaime Luis Torres, 20 and Phoenix Hannibal, 36.

Police arrested Sanders and Hannibal connected with the murder on Friday.

Jones and Ordonez on Thursday, Lopez on Wednesday and Jaime on Tuesday.

Police say Davis went to Vidant Medical Center after the incident and later died trauma to his head, according to an autopsy report.

Davis was a retired teacher at South Lenoir High School and also worked as a bailiff at the Lenoir County Courthouse.

A funeral service for Jack Davis, Jr. will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United American Free Will Baptist Tabernacle.

There is also visitation scheduled Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert Swinson Jr. Memorial Chapel.
