SENECA, SC – A teen is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Oconee County.

The 19-year-old was killed following a shooting in the Hardee’s parking lot located off bypass 123 shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis.

Addis adds that the suspect was trying to avoid a police stop when they drove their car towards the Seneca Police Officer attempting to make the stop. The officer felt threatened, so they fired their weapon twice, striking the driver twice in the chest, Addis says.

The coroner’s office has not released the name of the suspect yet.

This incident happened during an undercover drug investigation being conducted by the Seneca Police Department.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is also conducting an investigation.
