sc2Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore says excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. He says Cadden’s blood-alcohol level exceeded the state’s legal limit of .08.

Shore says a security camera on the school’s campus shows that Cadden’s vehicle drove off U.S. Route 76, traveled across a grassy area and some bushes on the Tri-County campus before it went off the edge of a second road and hit the tree.

Clemson University spokeswoman Robin Denny says Cadden was a financial management major who was preparing to start his junior year.
