Confederate flag supporters held rally in Myrtle Beach

Confederate flag supporters held a rally in Myrtle Beach .

The group says it wanted to exercise its right as Americans to fly the confederate flag.

The organization met at Coastal Grand Mall, drove through Market Common, looped down Ocean Boulevard and back up 17 business waving the Confederate flag.

The group says the goal is to keep southern heritage intact before it is all destroyed.

The controversy over the Confederate flag continues after the flag was removed from the statehouse grounds in Columbia back in July.

The flag would not have come down if not for the deadly shooting killing 9 people at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston on June 17, 2015.

The suspected killer, Dylann Roof embraced the Confederate flag and African Apartheid-era flags as symbols of white supremacy.
