Police Arrest Man in Connection to “Underground Club” Murder

LONGS, SC (WBTW) Police have arrested 18 year old Keontrail Jhamarcqwez Wilson in connection with the July 30th murder in the Freemont community.

Wilson was booked at the Horry County Detention Center where he was charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.

Officers responded to a club off Radius and Freemont Roads in the Longs community.  Lt. Raul Denis said the call came in around 2:00 a.m.  Lt. Denis said someone was shot and later died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said it was 28-year-old Ickle Stanley, who had been shot in the chest.

Lt. Denis said officers have responded to numerous crimes in the Longs area and they partially blame these so called “underground” night clubs.

“These operations are run as clubs, people refer to them as clubs, but they’re not actually clubs,” stated Denis.

News 13 drove to Radius Road and discovered the night club, was a shed in someone’s front yard.

“Sometimes they’ll advertise, sometimes it’s just word of mouth but they’ll organize a really sizable party at someone’s home or an abandon building somewhere,” said Denis.

These night clubs are not licensed establishments, according to Denis.

Investigators often don’t know who host the parties, but suspect gang members attend them. Lt. Denis said they’re attacking the problem from all different angles.

“We are working to try to head that off with our licensing people, our zoning people,” he said.

If a property owner is selling alcohol or doesn’t have a license to hold a gathering, it’s considered illegal.
