JOHNSONVILLE- It’s year number two for Johnsonville in Class AA. The transition in 2014 wasn’t easy for the Flashes, but they did gain some valuable experience to help prepare them for this season.
“Really you can’t tell until you play them in person and we’ll have a lot better outlook on what they’re trying to do and hopefully we’ll have a better outlook on what we’re trying to do,” head coach Lewis Lineberger explain.
Johnsonville was 4-7 last year. This season, they return 11 starters, including a some of their skilled players.
“All these guy we’ll been playing together since rec ball and bringing them back for my senior year. I mean it’s my last memory of high school you might as well go out with a big bang and just win,” senior quarterback Jacob Avant said.
The Flashes will have some work to do on the front line. Johnsonville will not have much depth on offensive or defensive line, so staying healthy is key.
“Defense is the key to every game and last year our defense wasn’t really clicking like we hope to be this year,” senior running back Robert Ripley said.
The Flashes made the playoffs last year, but this season they hope to make an even bigger statement in 2A.
