ZEBULON, NC — A Wake Forest man is in jail on $1.6 million bond accused by police of raping a mentally handicapped child and offering her money to not report the incident.
Ryan Reynolds, age 24, is charged with taking indecent liberties and first degree sex offense.
Zebulon police say he knew the victim and convinced that child to let him into the house while the girl’s mother was away on July 31.
Police say he then sexually assaulted the girl and gave her money to keep quiet.
The mother reported the incident to police.
Reynolds is a registered sex offender.
Reynolds was previously convicted of Indecent Liberties with a Minor and is currently on the NC Sex Offender Registry.
He is currently in the Wake County Detention Center under a $1.6 million bond awaiting trial. Reynolds’ next court date is Aug. 24.
Zebulon Detectives located Reynolds in Wake Forest and with the assistance of the Wake Forest Police Department and arrested him without incident.
