MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A power outage has knocked out electricity for more than 1,200 people on the Grand Strand Thursday afternoon.
According to Santee Cooper Power, 3,777 customers were affected. The outage primarily is affecting areas south of Highway 501.
The outage also knocked out traffic lights at various intersections. The Myrtle Beach Police Department released a statement on its Facebook page saying officers are now on scene directing traffic at a few locations, but most traffic signals are operational at this time.
Lt. Joey Crosby with the Myrtle Beach Police Department says the traffic lights are out on Harrelson Blvd., 17 Bypass south of 501, and some lights on Hwy 501.
The cause of the outage has not been released. Santee Cooper Power says power is expected to be completely restored around 7 p.m.
