Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce named chamber of the year

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)– The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) announce the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) has named MBACC the 2015 Chamber of the Year – the ACCE’s most prestigious and competitive annual award.

Businesses from around the community gathered together to celebrate the award Tuesday morning.

Board member Jim Creel Jr. says it’s a big recognition for a lot of people and their hard work

“I believe that when you look at the chamber as a whole it has continued to grow in our representation of not just tourism but of the entire business community and the entire community as a whole,” Creel said.

Brad Dean, president/CEO, and Diana Greene, executive vice president of membership, MBACC, accepted the award Aug. 12 at ACCE’s Annual Convention in Montreal, Canada.

“We are truly honored and humbled to be recognized by such an esteemed organization and receive the Chamber of the Year distinction,” said Dean. “This exceptional recognition is the result of the hard work and dedication I see from our staff and volunteers day in and day out. As both a chamber and destination marketing organization that represents 12 communities stretching across 60 miles of coastline in South Carolina, MBACC focuses on making a positive impact on the entire Myrtle Beach area while promoting, protecting and improving the area for its residents, businesses, and visitors.”

Chamber of the Year is the nation’s only award recognizing the dual role chambers have in leading businesses and communities. Competing with more than 30 other chambers, the Myrtle Beach Area of Chamber of Commerce was honored with the Chamber of the Year designation after demonstrating organizational strength and making an impact on key community priorities, such as education, transportation, business development and quality of life.
