SAN FRANCISCO — They said they’d post the information — and they did.
Customer data stolen by hackers from cheating website Ashley Madison was posted online Tuesday. The online dating site is for people interested in cheating on their significant others.
It was hacked a month ago by a group called the Impact Team. They promised to release customers’ credit card information and “secret sexual fantasies” if the site was not shut down.
Some of that data was posted Tuesday on something called the Dark Web.
The Dark Web can only be viewed with a special browser and can’t be searched on common search engines. As promised, the information that was posted includes customer names and credit card numbers.
