DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – The Securities Division of the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office sponsored an investment fraud seminar Wednesday at the Bethea Baptist Retirement Community in Darlington County.

Topics included how to recognize an investment scam, and how to research a securities broker or investment advisor.

The Securities Division suggests before you hand over any money to contact its offices to find out if a person is registered to offer securities products or investment advice. Also, beware of promises of high returns on an investment in a short period of time. You’re also asked to report any suspicious activity to the Securities Division.

You can contact the Securities Division by calling (803) 734-9916, or online by clicking here.
