MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach woman was arrested Tuesday after getting into a fight with her boyfriend and holding a knife to her child’s throat, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.
Police officers were called to a home on 13th Avenue South around 1 a.m. after the boyfriend called 911, the report said.
The boyfriend told police when they arrived that Ella Martha Rush, 41, became upset when he confronted her about some pending warrants against her. She told him that if she was “going down,” she was going down for something serious, the report said.
Rush then picked up a knife, held it to her infant child’s throat and threatened to hurt or kill the baby, the report said.
The boyfriend said he tried to talk to get her to put the knife down. He said she cut him when he got closer and then he wrestled her to the ground.
When police arrived, Rush said that her boyfriend became upset after she did not want to have sexual relations with him and he punched her in the face 5-6 times.
EMS staff told police they did not see any swelling or redness to support Rush’s claim she was struck, the report said.
Rush was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
The boyfriend and child were taken to the hospital for treatment.
