Power restored for more than 19,000 Horry Electric customers

OUTAGE-MAPHORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Power has been restored to the more than 19,000 Horry Electric customers who were suddenly without electricity Wednesday afternoon.

More than 19,000 people in Horry County were without power Wednesday afternoon for about half an hour, according to Horry Electric outage maps.

The online outage maps for the utility company documented 19,091 members were briefly without electricity. Horry Electric reports the number of customers affected by substation was as follows:

  • Burgess – 3955
  • Island Green – 4546
  • Jones Road – 2935
  • Lake Ridge – 2003
  • Socastee – 5652

Horry Electric documents that the power outage began at 1 p.m., and restoration of power was just after 1:30 p.m. The company stated on its Facebook page at 1:06 p.m.:

Members served out of the Burgess, Island Green, Socastee, Lake Ridge and Jones Road substations are currently experiencing outages due to loss of transmission from Santee Cooper. Crews and engineers have been dispatched from Horry Electric.

At 1:30 p.m., the utility company posted:

Transmission was restored and we’re back in business! Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday! We appreciate the patience of our members who were impacted by this outage.
