Florence Veterans Park will honor Veterans and pay tribute to First Responders on Patriots Day

Florence, SC (PRESS RELEASE) – The Florence Veterans Park will honor Veterans and pay tribute to First Responders on Patriots Day, 2015. Patriots Day is September 11.  The event is at 11 a.m.

In addition, the Park will add its newest monument, a tribute to the Merchant Marine, the oft forgotten about service that had the highest casualty rate during World War II.  The addition of this monument was made possible by a generous donation to the Veterans Park by the William Bacot Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Florence, SC.  The monument was designed by and produced by Browns Memorials of Florence. The anchors featured as part of the monument were donated to the Veterans Park by Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, SC. The City of Florence and volunteers assisted in the preparation of the site.

There is limited seating available in the Veterans Park, so attendees are encouraged to bring lawn/beach chairs if they wish to sit. The Florence Veterans Park is located at 601 Woody Jones Blvd. in Florence.  It’s adjacent to the Florence Civic Center parking lot.

Additional information is available by contacting Barry Wingard, Chair, Florence Veterans Park Committee, at 843-601-3800.
