Fight over beer leads to attempted murder charge for Myrtle Beach man

CONWAY (WBTW) — Horry County Police say a Myrtle Beach man has been arrested after reportedly trying to kill his girlfriend following an argument over beer.

According to police, officers responded to a home on Piedmont Avenue, for a stabbing Tuesday at about 11:00 p.m.

A 30 year-old woman reported being assaulted by her boyfriend, 40-year-old Chad Chestnut, over a beer.

The woman said that during the assault Chestnut cut her neck with a knife. She was treated at a local hospital and is recovering from her injury; however, the cut was considered life-threatening.

Police say Chestnut is charged with attempted murder and has been transported to the Horry County Detention Center where he is waiting for his bond hearing.
