Myrtle Beach, SC – The 10th Annual Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival returns this fall to the Grand Strand on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5, 2015.
The end-of-summer extravaganza will take place Labor Day Weekend from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, and from 12 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. The festival will be held at the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Conference Center at 950 Crabtree Lane, near Grand Park at The Market Common.
Registered cooking teams will compete for the chance to win $9,500 in cash prizes during Friday and Saturday’s barbecue competitions.
“Oh we have the best barbecue no matter where we cook it. No I think it all depends on your taste and what you like but we bring our same rubs and our same BBQ sauce to North Carolina, South Carolina,” Scott Dickerson said.
Organized by Palmetto Event Productions, the 10th Annual Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival is a free, family-friendly event featuring finger-lickin’ barbecue and food for purchase from vendors and competitors, along with free live entertainment both days. In addition, there will be kids’ activities and games, vendors selling festival food and art/craft favorites. Parking is also free and available throughout the Market Common area and HGTC campus buildings along Pampas Avenue. There will be a handicap parking lot near the intersection of Pampas Avenue and Crabtree Lane, and spaces will be first come, first serve.
Keeping with the festival’s mission of being an affordable event, attendees can sample delicious barbecue from competing teams on Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m., by purchasing a $10 wristband while supplies last. Children 8 and under can sample for free. New for 2015 are smoked ribs on the menu, along with the fan favorite barbecue sandwiches and combos, available for purchase from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, and from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. If barbecue doesn’t tempt your taste buds, other festival food will be available for purchase during the entire event.
Along with the official Kansas City Barbecue Society Barbecue Championship on Saturday, festival goers will enjoy a number of other competitions and events throughout the two days, including the Myrtle Beach Car Club Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 12 to 3 p.m.
