Have You Heard – August 27, 2015

Have You Heard, but the Beatles and Elvis Presley met only once and that one meeting happened 50 years ago today (8/27/1965).

The Fab Four was on tour and staying in a mansion in Los Angeles when they got word that the meeting was confirmed at Elvis’ mansion, also in Los Angeles. Reports say the get-together was rather awkward until Elvis said something like, “if you guys are just going to sit around all night and look at me, I’m going to go to bed.”

After that, the five had a jam session in Elvis’ living room. Unfortunately, one rule Elvis laid down was: no pictures and no recordings. So no physical evidence exists from that meeting.

The great Blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash 25 years ago today. He was only 35.

The first “Guinness Book of World Records” was released 60 years ago today.

Paul “Pee-wee Herman” Reubens turns 63 today. Pro golfer Bernhard Langer, who won two Masters and five majors on the Seniors Tour, is 58.

And today is Banana Lovers Day!
