Myrtle Beach, SC – Grand Strand Health will sponsor seminars and classes in September about pulmonary rehabilitation, diabetic foot problems, post discharge services and lung cancer. All events are held at HealthFinders at Coastal Grand Mall, beside Dillard’s.
Oxygen Options & Pulmonary Rehabilitation is the topic on Thursday, September 10 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm with Grand Strand Health’s Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Supervisor Kelly Wells, RN. She will explain the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation along with what our program offers. Oxygen delivery system options, how to choose the best delivery system for you and traveling with oxygen will also be discussed.
An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, September 17 from 11 am – 7 pm. Give the gift of life! Blood donations help millions of patients in need.
Diabetic Foot Problems will be held on Tuesday, September 22 from 6 – 7 pm. Podiatrist Scott Werter, DPM, with Coastal Podiatry Associates, will discuss common foot problems that diabetics can face, such as open sores, and how to treat them.
A Grand Strand Health Case Manager will discuss what happens after you are discharged from the hospital on Thursday, September 24 from 6 – 7 pm. The case manager will speak about post discharge services and what services are often covered by insurance plans. Frequently asked questions about insurance and the hospital will also be discussed. Light refreshments will be provided.
Did you know more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined? Understanding Lung Cancer is the topic on Tuesday, September 29 from 6 – 7 pm. Grand Strand Health’s Cardiothoracic Navigator, Melissa Turner, RN, BSN, will discuss causes, risk factors and prevention of lung cancer. You will also learn about our new Lung Cancer Program and screening.
