MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Beloved pets now have a permanent resting place at the Myrtle Beach’s Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery. A newly-created pet cemetery, specifically for domestic pets, has been established within Ocean Woods.
The City of Myrtle Beach says that dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other small animals are welcome. Two plot sizes are available, according to the Facebook post on the Myrtle Beach City Government page. A two-by-two-foot plot is $480, while a larger, two-by-four-foot plot is $540. Those prices include perpetual care.
Flat granite monuments of eight by 16 by four inches are allowed, and durable burial containers of metal, wood or plastic are required.
Ocean Woods Cemetery is at 2408 South Kings Highway. For information about burying a family pet, call the cemetery staff at 843-918-1490.
City officials say the pet cemetery at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery was created after the city received several requests through the years.
