Multiple crews clear hazardous materials spill in Olanta

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – The Florence County Emergency Response Team responded to a hazardous materials spill Thursday afternoon.

According to the emergency response team’s Facebook page, the crew partnered with the Olanta Fire Department, Florence County EMS, Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Olanta PD and S.C. DOT to 432 S. Jones Rd. in Olanta around 1 p.m. Thursday.

The crews worked to clear a hazardous materials spill. According to the post, there was a leak of approximately 20 gallons of a substance that was 50% hydrogen peroxide. Crews were able to get the situation under control and clear the scene fairly quickly.No injuries were reported.
