Myrtle Beach woman flees scene after hitting moped, police say

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach woman was arrested after fleeing the scene when she hit a moped driver Wednesday night, according to police.

Cpl. Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Kaitlyn Dixon was driving a vehicle on Highway 544 near SC 31 around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday night when she struck a moped driver.

Dixon fled the scene, adds Cpl. Collins, but was located shortly after the crash.

Dixon was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 1:25 a.m. Thursday on charges of driving too fast for conditions and hit and run in accident with injury. Bail has not yet been set.

Cpl. Collins says the driver of the moped survived the accident, but suffered multiple injuries.
