LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – Robeson County deputies are still limited in the details they can offer regarding a man’s body pulled from a swamp on Sunday.
Sheriff Kenneth Sealey confirmed Monday morning the body was a man, though his identity has not been confirmed. Deputies said the body was found in a swampy area off McQueen Road between Mount Tabor and Shannon Road.
Major Anthony Thompson with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office says the body was “tossed over the side of the bridge into the water.” Officials add they are waiting to hear about results from an autopsy being performed at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh, NC as to the cause of death.
The Fayetteville Police Department dive team assisted in the recovery of the body from the water.
