‘Songs of Travel’ to be performed at CCU

Conway, SC –  “Songs of Travel,” a poetry collection recited through song, will be performed by Coastal Carolina University faculty members on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall with admission of $7.

“Songs of Travel” is a collection by Robert Louis Stevenson that explores the theme of wanderlust. The collection inspired a British composer Ralph Vaughn Williams to create a song cycle for baritone and piano in 1984. The performance at CCU will premiere South Carolina composer and CCU faculty member Andrew Fowler’s song cycle based on the same source. It will feature other CCU faculty and frequent collaborators, baritone Jeffrey Jones and pianist Philip Powell.

Teens, CCU and HGTC alumni, OLLI members, groups and senior citizens receive a 20 percent discount. CCU and HGTC students can purchase tickets for $5.

Edwards Recital Hall is located in room 152 of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts building, 133 Chanticleer Drive, Conway. For more information, email culturalarts@coastal.edu or call 843-349-6985.
