Some of the republican candidates for President are heading to Greenville Friday for the “Take Back America” forum. The event at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena is hosted by Governor Nikki Haley, former South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint and Heritage Action CEO Mike Needham.
It starts at 4pm and lasts about 6 hours. You had to register ahead of time and the event is at capacity.
To qualify, the GOP candidates had to poll at a certain level. The list includes:
Dr. Ben Carson
Gov. Jeb Bush
Sen. Ted Cruz
Sen. Marco Rubio
Gov. Scott Walker
Gov. Chris Christie
Dr. Rand Paul
Sen. Rick Santorum
Gov. Bobby Jindal
Donald Trump has cancelled his appearance. His campaign says Trump is dealing with a ‘significant business transaction’ that was expected to close Thursday.
This isn’t a debate. The candidates will focus on policy issues and each have time on the stage to address the audience.
Heavy traffic is expected around the arena because of the event. The City of Greenville is working closely with Bon Secours Wellness Arena staff to monitor traffic flow and parking that could effect people downtown and business owners. Offsite parking will be available beginning at noon for $5 per vehicle at the Greenville Jet Center (100 Tower Drive, Greenville, SC 29607).
Complimentary shuttles begin at 1pm and will provide round trip service to the arena. Shuttle service ends one hour after the show concludes. Additional information can be found online.
