3 arrests made in Laurinburg shooting

SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WBTW) – The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office made three arrests connected to a shooting on Barnes Bridge Road Friday night.

According to a release from Sheriff Ralph Kersey, deputies arrested Charles Cameron Oxendine, of Laurinburg, Friday for a shooting that happened near the intersection of Barnes Bridge Road and Hwy 501 south.

The victim explained to officers at the Maxton Police Department that his vehicle was shot by Oxendine and also damaged by two females. Witnesses to the shooting called the sheriff’s office with information that corroborated the victim’s story. Charles Oxendine was located by deputies on Harry Malloy road.

Charles Oxendine is charged with one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle and is in the Scotland County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

Two females were also arrested in connection with the crime. Deputies report Samantha Oxendine and Vada Oxendine, both of Laurinburg, were arrested Monday. Each woman is charged with two counts of assault with deadly weapon and one count of injury to personal property. Samantha and Vada Oxendine were released on a written promise to appear, according to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.
