Myrtle Beach, SC – Grand Strand Health will be hosting two community flu clinics in the month of October. Flu season can be severe and unpredictable. Over a period of 30 years, there have been an estimated 3,000 to 49,000 flu-associated deaths in the United States. The single best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine each season.
Grand Strand Health’s flu clinics will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA from 5 – 7 pm; and Thursday, October 15 at HealthFinders in Coastal Grand Mall from 5 – 7 pm. Flu shots are $20 and $15 for H2U members; cash or check only. There is no charge for red/white/blue Medicare (Part B) card holders. H2U and Medicare cards must be presented to receive discount or no charge for the flu shot. Our clinics will be administrating the flu shots to individuals 16 years and older; 16 and 17 year olds must be present with an adult.
Flu shots are recommended for everyone six months of age and older. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with asthma, diabetes or heart disease are at a greater risk of serious complications if they get the flu.
