105 years ago today, Teddy Roosevelt became the first president to fly in an airplane.
It took place in a Wright Brothers-built plane at an airfield in St. Louis. Roosevelt’s flight was brief. He was up in the air for only four minutes.

During a shuttle Challenger mission 31 years ago today (10/11/1984), Kathryn Sullivan became the first American woman to walk in space.
