Man killed in shootout with Greenville County deputies

Horry County authorities are trying to find a pond that a carjacker may have driven into earlier this month in Myrtle Beach.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say a man who fired at Greenville County deputies serving a warrant has been shot and killed, and another person was wounded in the same shootout.

Investigators said the man killed ran from the building as officers began serving the warrant around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Deputies did not say what the warrant was for.

Authorities say deputy was also grazed by two bullets, but didn’t need to go to the hospital.

The names of men killed and wounded have not been released. Neither have the names of the deputies involved in the shooting.

The criminal investigation into the shooting has been turned over to the State Law Enforcement Division. SLED says there is no dashboard or body camera footage of the shooting.
