FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The American Red Cross is responding to the historic flooding that is affecting the entire state of South Carolina by handing out water, meals and cleaning kits in the Pee Dee.
Sunday was the third day that Red Cross volunteers have been helping people at the Florence Red Cross chapter.
Over the course of three days Red Cross volunteers have seen more than 500 people.
Residents who stopped by say their appreciative of the Red Cross efforts in helping victims like themselves who were affected by the flooding.
“Well a sister at the church told me to come by because the Red Cross was giving out supplies concerning the flood and what happened during the rainy season. I decided to stop on my way home,” said flood victim Maggie Williams.
About 600 Red Cross workers are on the ground, providing shelter, food and water and relief supplies throughout South Carolina.
