PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WBTW) – Georgetown County deputies say a Pawleys Island man is behind bars after reportedly responding to numerous fires within the county posing as a first responder.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office arrested Erik Allen Weddell, 47, of Pawleys Island for impersonating a public official. Weddell is not affiliated with any fire departments in Georgetown County, according to Public Information Officer Carrie Weaver.
On several occasions, Weddell has responded to fire, water rescue, and other emergency responder calls reportedly driving recklessly and with emergency lights and a sound device, adds Weaver.
Weddell is charged with one count of impersonating a public official.
