West Florence Fire Department hold open house

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Due to unforeseen weather conditions earlier this month the West Florence Fire Department had to cancel their open house so Saturday they welcomed people in the community to come and learn the importance of fire safety.

The open house included fire safety demonstrations, tours of the fire station, food and fun activities for kids.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the South Carolina Highway Patrol took part in the open house to talk about safe hunting and traffic safety.

“We want to let people know what we have here at the fire department due to fire prevention. We are teaching them ways to use fire extinguishers. It makes me feel good to know that I can give back to my community,” said West Florence Fire Department President Tim Tolson.

The president says their hope is to break ground for their fourth station on Hoffmyer Road within the next 30 days.
