CCU men picked 2nd in Big South

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina was picked to finish 2nd in the Big South by conference media during Big South basketball media day Monday. Chanticleers Guard Elijah Wilson and forward Badou Diagne made the preseason All-Big South team.

High Point is the preseason favorite, and Panthers guard John Brown is the Preseason Player of the Year.

News13’s Kelsey Riggs talked with Coastal Carolina coach Cliff Ellis about the upcoming season. If you’re utilizing the News13 mobile app, watch the complete interview here.

“Everybody’s wanting to get the games started. We’re only a couple of weeks away, and when you get the media around, and the other coaches and get the feel of basketball is in the air. So, it’s kind of the kick-off to the season,” said Ellis of the Big South basketball media day.

Coach Ellis touched on CCU’s departure from the Big South and the experience his team has had being a part of the conference.

“It’s a special year. It’s our last year as a charter member of the Big South finishing up, and out team has been very fortunate over the last few years to win a few titles, but we want to go out with one more,” declares the head coach of the Chanticleers. “Lot of guns pointed at us, so we’ll see how it all plays out.”
