HCFR moves forward with finding new chief

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Fire Rescue is getting closer to finding its next chief.

Lisa Bourcier, spokeswoman for the county, told News13 Wednesday that it has received 33 applications for the position. She says about six interviews have been scheduled with selected candidates.

County officials expect those interviews to being within a week. Bourcier says a second round of interviews may be conducted before any finalists are named.

Chief Fred Crosby retired from Horry County Fire Rescue at the end of May. Crosby had served as chief since November 2012, according to the department’s website. Assistant Chief Scott Thompson currently serves as interim chief.
