HENDERSONVILLE, NC – A man has been charged with a felony after the accidental shooting death of a two- year old girl.
James Fuller Stepp, 31, turned himself in to Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies Monday night on a charge of involuntary manslaughter. This follows the death of Abigail Newman earlier this morning.
Stepp lives at the address – 158 Golden Eagle Way – where the shooting happened just before 9:00 a.m. Monday. The sheriff says the victim was not his child.
Sheriff Frank Stout didn’t release any details of what led to the charges being filed, but he presented his case to the district attorney who determined the charge Stout now faces in the child’s death.
Stepp posted a $5,000 bond. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation will continue and more charges are possible.
