Richland County deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with last Saturday night’s shooting at the South Carolina State Fair.
Local media outlets reported Thursday that 19-year-old Joseph Anderson Jr. has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Deputies say Anderson shot a 15-year-old boy in the lower body at the fair in Columbia. The teenager was taken to a hospital, where he was last listed in stable condition.
After the shooting, the fair continued, but no one else was allowed to come inside for the rest of the night.
In the wake of that shooting, metal detectors were installed at all general admission gates.
Online jail records do not indicate whether Anderson has an attorney.
